Bird Farm Alpacas - Mission Statement

Our aim is to maintain a herd of around fifteen to twenty breeding females. The alpacas are like family pets and welfare standards are very high. The emphasis being to improve the fine texture, crimp and colour of the fleece by careful and controlled mating.

We process the fibre into luxurious yarn, which is knitted, woven and made into beautiful products sold at craft events and online, all practised under a Fairtrade policy. We offer volunteering opportunities and currently have adults with learning difficulties helping with farm tasks twice a week. A lovely opportunity for all of us!

I have had the absolute pleasure of doing three courses with Emma. Myself and my 70 year old father started with a bird feeder and so loved it so went into do a Round and a square Basket course. The atmosphere is always relaxed, Emma has great patience and the pace of work is set by you. We were always made to feel welcome and at home with Home made cake and a visit to the alpacas after lunch. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone and have done so on many occasion.
